Isn’t it also systemic steroids that can lead to cataracts? I am thinking of both PO and IV steroids…

How long after cataract surgery should you use eye drops (antibiotic and inflammation drops)?

TIMROOT: This really depends upon the surgeon, and how your eye is doing. Generally, I follow this schedule:
    1. Antibiotic: 5-7 days
    2. NSAID Drop: 1-2 weeks
    3. Steroid Drop: 2-4 weeks

If my patient is at risk for post-operative macular edema (they have diabetic retinopathy or epiretinal membrane) than I may extend the NSAID to 4-6 weeks.

  4. if your lens is loose why is it so painful by giving you headace. is it nessasery to remove the eye.

  5. @JPeters: I’m not sure what you mean by “loose lens.”

    1. If you are talking about a dislocating lens inside the eye, this is generally NOT painful and needs to be addressed by an ophthalmologist.

    2. If you are talking about a dislocating implant … pretty much the same thing.

The only scenario I can think of where a “loose lens” would cause pain, is if the implant/lens is rubbing on the iris inside the eye, causing an iritis.

Either way … I recommend seeing an eye doctor if you are having eye pain or headaches.
