What do you call a layer of white pus in the anterior chamber?
This is a hypopyon, a collection of exudative macrophages, white blood cells, etc.. You can see this with bad internal ocular infections, such as endophthalmitis. You can also see a “sterile” hypopyon with corneal ulcers that is merely an inflammatory response.
Inverse hypopyon:
after doing pars plana vitrectomy when silicon oil is inserted in viterous, sometimes the oil emulsifies and seeps into anterior chamber and settels at the TOP of it… (so called inverse hypopyon as it is against gravity)
