convergence

This is when the eyes turn inwards. For example, the eyes need to converge when looking at close objects such as when reading a book.  People with a convergence insufficiency have a hard time with this and may have double vision when reading.  Treatment may involve prism reading glasses and occasionally eye exercises to strengthen the inner eye muscles.
