Symptoms of retinal detachment include:

• Flashing lights (like a repeated camera flash)
• New floaters in the vision
• A curtain of darkness
• Decreased vision

Flashes and floaters are the classic symptoms we ask during the review of symptoms, and new onset of these symptoms warrants a dilated exam.
