trichiasis
This is when eyelashes grow in the wrong direction, rubbing on the surface of the eye and causing irritation. While common, trichiasis is difficult to treat as lashes are thick and the lash follicle hard to destroy. Epilation (plucking) of the eyelashes can be done in the doctors office, though some people with good sight and steady hands are able to pull this off at home with blunt tweezers. If persistent, more aggressive surgical correction can be considered.
