How do you diagnose a corneal abrasion?

A cornea abrasion is usually easiest seen by bathing the eye with yellow fluorescein dye, and viewing the cornea using a blue light. The fluorescein will uptake in the area of the abrasion (the area where the epithelium has rubbed off) and be obvious.
